Music Lessons For Children - Lichfield - FAQ
What age can my child start lessons?
For piano and violin lessons a good starting age is 4+. This will depend on the specific student but an initial lesson is a good place to start to see how things go. Shorter lessons (20 Minutes) are available for younger learners too.
What do I need at home?
For young learners the minimum requirment at home would depend on the chosen instrument.
For Violin Lessons, an appropriately sized violin outfit and music stand would be a good staring point.
For Piano Lessons, a 61 key keybaord would be a good strating point. Specifically with full size keys would be recommended.
For Singing Lessons, a calm space to practice with backing track is essential alongside a music stand and a folder to organise sheet music.

How often should lessons take place?
Lessons take place once per week, term-time (36 weeks) and lessons take place on this basis. Bi-weekly lessons are not a posibilty due to the impact on progress and timetabling.
How often should I practice?
Little and often is the best when practising. Remeber children will need reminders to do this and ideally it should be scheduled into the week, much like homework and reading. Sometimes this is not possible and I am happy to work on this understading setting less work to complete at home and supporting practice during lessons too.
